COMP CamsŪ & Quarter MasterŪ Sponsor Show-Me 100 Race Of Champions

COMP CamsŪ and Quarter MasterŪ have joined forces to rejuvenate the Race of Champions at the 18th Annual Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri

When racers and race fans think about the crown jewel events of Dirt Late Model racing, a select handful of races comes to mind. Of those select few, one in particular stands out: the annual Show-Me 100, which has been a Memorial Day mainstay for nearly twenty years. The brainchild of Don and Billie Gibson, the event was brought to life in 1993 at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, Missouri. Over the next 17 years, the race grew to be a must-see event as each year it drew fans and racers from across the nation. However, at the end of the 2009 season the Gibson family announced that due to health issues, their facility would be closed and the coveted event would be relocated for 2010 to Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.

For the 2010 edition of the Show-Me 100, many facets of the event will remain the same. However, there will be some major changes for the event, which will be held on May 27-29, 2010. First and foremost will be the obvious venue change from West Plains Motor Speedway to the “Diamond in the Dirt,” Lucas Oil Speedway. The facility, which is located approximately one hour north of Springfield, Missouri, is a true showplace of speed and glamour. For the second straight year, the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series (LODLMS) will sanction the event, and SPEED TV cameras will be on hand to record all of the racing action for a delayed broadcast.

After going on hiatus in 2009 due to a lack of sponsorship, the Race of Champions has been resurrected by COMP CamsŪ and Quarter MasterŪ. This special race takes place during the weekend of the Show-Me 100 and sends all former champions of the race into a no holds barred, 12 lap battle that boasts a purse in excess of $2,000 and, more importantly, bragging rights. Eligible drivers for the COMP CamsŪ Race of Champions Presented by Quarter MasterŪ include Billy Moyer, Scott Bloomquist, Rick Aukland, Freddy Smith, Terry Phillips, Ray Cook, Wendell Wallace and Brian Birkhofer, who is the defending Show-Me 100 Champion.

In addition to sponsoring the Race of Champions, COMP CamsŪ will once again co-host an Engine Builder Luncheon on Saturday afternoon, May 29th, at the Lucas Oil Speedway. Finally, there will be COMP CamsŪ and Quarter MasterŪ technicians on hand throughout the weekend to assist customers and answer any questions.

The COMP CamsŪ and Quarter MasterŪ support of Dirt Late Model racing is also evident by their season-long involvement with the series. COMP CamsŪ sponsors the COMP CamsŪ Engine Builder of the Year program with the tour, while Quarter MasterŪ is the title sponsor on the Quarter MasterŪ Rookie of the Year award.
